It turns out this is a Carnival signature dish and I’m not the only one who can’t stop thinking about it.  The recipe can be found here and I can’t wait to give it a try.

We grabbed a Bloomspot.com deal for our getaway which took us to Idyllwild, CA - a mile high mountain town located near the city of Hemet.  Fun fact: it’s also the home town of American Idol contestant Casey Abrams. Upon arrival to the Inn we were greeted with the loud clucking of hens and little did we know that these gals would be providing tomorrow’s breakfast! I couldn’t help but snap a photo of this amazing egg dish that was served the next morning. The top was just a little bit crispy and each bite had the perfect amount of cheese and basil. If you’re looking to get out of LA to relax for the weekend, or even one night, I highly suggest taking the two hour trip out to Idyllwild for the Strawberry Creek Inn. ]]> For my birthday, Matt and I drove up to a bed & breakfast called the Strawberry Creek Inn. We also tried a few places in town —  Gastrognome for lunch and Cafe Aroma for dinner.  Lunch was good but dinner was a more memorable experience.  Amazing food, live music, and a great “mountainy” (yes, that’s a word) vibe.

I’m definitely looking forward to going back up to Idyllwild.  Next time I’d love to see it in the winter with some snow!
